iPhone or BlackBerry
May 12th, 2009 | by Mobile Data Group |BlackBerry devices were the most popular in the world of corporate messaging until recently and we all know why. The iPhone with its all-in-one functionality and sleek design is conquering the world. The other companies are feeling the heat and are trying to match the competition, let it be design or functionality. BlackBerry is no different. It’s famous for its push emailing and web browsing capabilities but was never considered to be sleek or stylish. Their latest product BlackBerry Bold has attracted attention as a smarter, sleeker BlackBerry with stainless steel rim around the case and flush-fitting screen. It even looks a bit like an iPhone!
However, mere looks alone are not enough to compete with the iPhone. RIM has also given the user interface a makeover on the new BlackBerry OS 4.6. Despite it’s 3G support and many new features such as monochromatic icons, support for recent web standards (CSS 2.1, HTML 4.01 and JavaScript 1.5, to name three) and desktop-like web browsing experience; it looks like that Bold couldn’t match the web browsing performance of iPhone. While people are crying over iPhone 3G’s low 3G performance, I wonder how users will take this performance of BlackBerry Bold.
