e-Boutique App
January 23rd, 2011 | by Mobile Data Group |What is it?
Window-shopping has never been so easy with the Net-A-Porter app, based on the popular e-boutique. You can select from its curated selection of premier luxury brands at your leisure, any time, anywhere, even in your daggiest tracky dacks, without judgment from snobby sales assistants. The app is available for iPhone.
What does it do?
Re-creates the Net-A-Porter online-shopping experience for the mobile. Browse the latest arrivals in clothing, bags, shoes and accessories from labels such as Prada, Diane von Furstenberg and Chloe. This seemingly harmless app lets you buy any item you fancy in a few quick taps — though in the wrong hands it could do some harm to the credit card balance. Products are categorised by type and you can add them to the shopping cart or wish-list as you go along. You can also peek at a fashion spread from Net-A-Porter’s monthly e-magazine. If you’re stuck on what to buy, there’s the “What to Wear Now” page to guide you in the right direction.
Who would use it?
Fashionistas with little time and lots of money to spend. And those who like to indulge in guilt-free window shopping.
Does it work?
Yes. Loaded with images and presented in a slick and simple layout, the app has successfully sold me on clothes, bags and shoes that I probably don’t need and really can’t afford. Just so you know, I’m eyeing the Alexander McQueen embroidered cape worth just more than $49,000. The checkout process is fast and it doesn’t take long to enter your credit card details, leaving little room for second thoughts. The downside is you can’t browse older products (you have to check the website). It could also do with a search function and more filtering options (by designer, by price) so you can find the item you’re after faster.
